PFCo - A new flocculant for wastewater treatment

PFCo - a long chain polymerized inorganic compound for wastewater treatment with efficient removal ability upto 80-90% BOD, COD and 100% disperse color...

1. What is PFCo?

  • PFCo polyferrichloride is a long chain polymerized inorganic compound, which is in the form of a brownish-yellow liquid. PFCo has general chemical formula of [Fen(OH)mClx] with n is up to 2,000 – 4,000.
  • PFCo is the cost-effective solution to solve many headache problems in supply water and wastewater such as TSS or turbidity, partial COD removal, heavy metals i.e. arsenic, lead... etc, color removal, phosphorus removal, better sedimentation time, reduced surplus sludge generation,…
  • PFCo is superior to almost all common flocculants available in the market, such as aluminum alumina (Al2(SO4)3.18H2O), alum iron (Fe2(SO4)3.nH2O, PAC ([Al2(OH)nCl6.nxH2O] m) or discolorants.

2. Oustanding Advantages of PFCo in wastewater treatment

The PFCo's advantages in wastewater treatment help reduce the used chemical dosage compared to current flocculants or decolorizing chemicals, the cost of using NAOH in PH adjustment, but bring much better water quality. PFCo simultaneously reduces the amount of sludge generated, and saves the cost of solid waste treatment.

2.1. Removal of 80% -90% COD, BOD in wastewater by adsorption efficiency

  • With type of wastewaters which have high organic concentration, microbial treatment can be extremely costly and requires large area, therefore using PFC to remove large amount of COD by physico-chemical method is a great suggestion to design an economical solution.

Sample 01: Food processing wastewater

Sample 02: Wastewater of Joss Paper making from Handicraft village

2.2. Remove 100% disperse color and 50% -70% reactive dyes in wastewater

Sample 01: Wastewater of Industrial laundry factory

Sample 02: Wastewater of Washing & Dyeing factory

2.3. Good coagulation ability of heavy metal & TSS with faster settling time

Water after treatment with PFCo won’t contain excess aluminum, chlorine, heavy metals or other harmful substances and won’t have the residual iron ions in water

Sample 01: Wastewater at central wastewater treatment plant of an industrial park in the North of Vietnam

Sample 02: Comparison of PAC and PFCo efficiency in the same wastewater

Sample 3: Wastewater at Sedimentation tank of central wastewater treatment plant at another industrial park in the North of Vietnam

2.4. Other benefits of PFCo:

  • Do not change PH level of water after treatment: PFCo after hydrolysis produces hydroxide and only produce 1 H+ in water, therefore PH level of water after treatment will be kept in quite stable status and won't cause equipment corrosion.
  • Do not need to adjust PH level before reaction: PFCo can react in wide pH range, from 4-11. The optimal reaction will be at pH level from 6-9, nearly no need to use NaOH or other chemicals to adjust pH of wastewater when using PFCo.
  • Remove phosphorus in wastewater
  • Reduce the hardness (Ca & Mg) of water
  • Reduce the cost of sludge treatment and the level of secondary pollution caused by the use of chemicals

3. PFCo Usage in wastewater treatment system:

4. PFCo Dosage in wastewater treatment

Depending on the pollution level of wastewater, PFCo used dosages are different. According to our actual application and experiment, the used dosage for normal wastewater treatment is less than 500 ml15%/ 1m3 of wastewater

5. PFCo Transporation forms to factories
